Francisco Pacheco, known as the voice of Cata and his drums, shone with “Clavelito colorado” at the Festival Celebremos Iberoamérica #CIBFest in Madrid, Spain, published on his social network Twitter account @EmbVZLA_enEsp of the Embassy of Venezuela in Spain.
Text: VTV
Pacheco, singer-songwriter born in Cata, Aragua state, who was once the leading voice and image of Un Solo Pueblo, founded the group Francisco Pacheco y la Pueblo de el, through which he continues to investigate, rescue and spread traditional Venezuelan music.
From an early age he was trained in the faith of music and dance in the suddenness of sirens and sanjuaneros blows; in the parrandas, malojeras and Christmas bonuses, in the official tones of Holy Week and in the songs of fulías of agrarian prayers. He joined the society of San Juan Bautista, inheritance from his mother Paula Croquer, Captain of San Juan de Cata.
He has participated in various national and international cultural events, including the “CAR1FESTA” Festival in Cuba; Tenerife Carnival, Canary Islands, Spain; Memphis Festival, Tennessee, United States; Latin American Traditional Music Festival, France, Germany, Italy, Holland, Switzerland.
He has also shared with different symphonic orchestras, national and international singers, in shows and recordings of different musical rhythms such as Gaita, Parranda, Salsa, Merengue, Ballads, etc.
Francisco Pacheco, during his musical career, has been the founder of groups created for the rescue and dissemination of Venezuelan religious and popular music, such as Canturía Popular Venezolana, Fundacata, Aragua Costa and Canto.
Likewise, his work has earned him several awards such as the Samán Order of Aragua in its only class, the Carlos Arturo Pardo Order of Honor to the worker, in its only class, Star Singer of Venezuela, of the Mará Foundation of Venezuela, Voice of Traditional Male Music of the Casa del Artista, as well as recognitions from different Venezuelan universities for their cultural contribution.
“Clavelito Colorado” in the sublime voice of Francisco Pacheco, could not miss this #CIBFest Concert in #Madrid where the tenth and the suddenness of the Venezuelan song shone.
The California State Board of Education has unanimously denied a petition to create a new unified school district in the Northgate area of Walnut Creek.
According to a statement released by the Mount Diablo Unified School District (MDUSD), the state board found the petition did not meet required legal criteria, there was no compelling reason to create a new district, and there were compelling reasons not to approve it.
“Settling this issue once and for all means that we can now unite in working together for an excellent education for all,” said MDUSD board member Cherise Khaund, whose district includes the Northgate territory and whose children attend district schools.
The proposed district would have included Northgate High School, Foothill Middle School and Bancroft, Valle Verde, and Walnut Acres elementary schools.
The district said the proposed split would have created “a less diverse and more affluent Northgate Unified District and a Mt. Diablo Unified District with a greater percentage of socio-economically disadvantaged and minority students in the remaining cities of Concord, Pleasant Hill, Clayton, Pacheco and parts of Lafayette, Martinez and Pittsburg and unincorporated areas of Contra Costa County including Bay Point.
The proposed new district would have included Northgate High School, Foothill Middle School and Bancroft, Valle Verde, and Walnut Acres elementary schools.
The district said more than two dozen people called into the board’s July 13 meeting to speak against the split, while one called in support.
The board voted 10-0 to deny the petition, with members saying they couldn’t find any reason to support the shift.

Senator Rodrigo Pacheco (L) is embraced by Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, son of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, after being elected president of the Senate, in Brasilia, on February 1, 2021. – Congress voted in head of house and senators in elections deemed crucial to determine Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro’s reach in upcoming years. (Photo by Sergio Lima / AFP)
BRASÍLIA — Brazil’s Congress began voting Monday for the next leaders of the Senate and lower house, a test for far-right President Jair Bolsonaro, whose political future could hang in the balance.
Bolsonaro got personally involved in the leadership battles in both houses of the legislature, looking to improve his troubled relations with Congress and stave off the 61 impeachment requests he is facing.
The speakers of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies, who are elected for two-year terms by their colleagues, are key gate-keepers in Brazilian politics, with the power to decide which legislation comes up for a vote.
The lower-house speaker also has the power to accept or shelve motions to impeach the president — no small matter for the leader dubbed the “Tropical Trump,” who has racked up dozens of such requests halfway into his four-year term.
FEATURED STORIES
Seeking to use the leadership votes to bolster his clout with Congress, Bolsonaro struck an alliance with a coalition known as the “Centrao,” or “big center,” a loose coalition of parties whose priority has traditionally been gaining access to pork and government posts.
In the Senate, he got a bit of good news soon after the voting began when lawmakers elected his candidate for speaker, Rodrigo Pacheco of the Democrats (DEM).
But the real test will be in the lower house, where there has been a hard-fought battle pitting Bolsonaro’s candidate, Arthur Lira of the Progressives (PP), against seven other candidates.
The main challenge comes from Baleia Rossi of the Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB), the candidate backed by current lower-house speaker Rodrigo Maia (DEM).
Maia has a strained relationship with Bolsonaro, and reacted furiously when other lawmakers from his party defied him to back Lira.
He reportedly threatened to use his last day in the speaker’s seat to open impeachment proceedings against Bolsonaro, before backtracking.
Bolsonaro faces some 20 impeachment motions over his chaotic handling of the pandemic, plus dozens more over alleged anti-democratic actions, environmental crimes and hate speech.
The voting process in the lower house could stretch into the early hours of Tuesday.

As depicted in Matt Reeves’s hit movie The Batman, the Riddler wasn’t simply an amusing eccentric with an affinity for wordplay and baffling clues, but as terrifying a villain as any in the annals of the Dark Knight. Here you can see Edward Nashton evolve into the menace known as the Riddler. How did an unknown forensic accountant uncover the dark secrets of Gotham’s underworld and come so close to bringing down the entire city? This six-issue miniseries is an immediate prequel to The Batman—the detailed, disturbing, and at times shocking story of a man with nothing to lose.
Artist Stevan Subic makes his American comics debut, including a variant cover that is the first of six interlocking covers. Subic’s recent Conan the Cimmerian for French publisher Glénat has brought him great acclaim in Europe, and he’s about to break out globally with a Batman series unlike any you’ve seen before.
