Demi Lovato Speaks Out Against Dating Older Men After Rumored Wilmer Valderrama Diss Track

The singer allegedly references her age gap with ex Wilmer Valderrama in her latest single, ’29.’

Demi Lovato is opening up about the message behind her latest single “29,” following speculation that the song is about her age difference with former partner, Wilmer Valderrama

During an appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Lovato, 30, discussed the lyrics of the song while urging young girls to be wary of dating older men.

“If you’re a young girl and you think that it’s sexy or fun to date older men, it’s not OK unless you’re of age,” she told Alex Cooper on the podcast episode that aired on Wednesday, August 24.

“It’s portrayed as like, ‘Oh you scored someone older, that’s cool,’ and it’s like, actually, thats weird,” the Disney Channel alum continued, adding that the track serves as a “reflective” moment for her.

The song, which includes the lyrics, “Finally twenty-nine/Funny just like you were at the time,” sparked rumors that Lovato was referencing Valderrama, now 42, who was 29 when they first met in 2010.

Lovato, who wrote the song after turning 29 last year, also sings, “Seventeen would never cross my mind,” which doesn’t seem to be a coincidence, considering the actress was 17 when she first met Valderrama.

“Thought it was a teenage dream, a fantasy/But it was yours, it wasn’t mine,” the lyrics continue.

Lovato allegedly outed the That 70s Show actor further with the lines, “I see you’re quite the collector/Yeah, you’re twelve years her elder,” which is widely speculated to be about Valderrama’s relationship with his current wife, Amanda Pacheco, who is 12 years younger than him.

Despite the circulating rumors, Lovato has not been compelled to confirm if the song is actually about Valderrama, as she previously stated, “the song says it all,” per Page Six

Despite admitting that she had “a ton of ” prior to releasing the single, the “SKIN OF MY TEETH” singer said it was important to put the truth out there.

In her conversation with Cooper, Lovato reiterated the importance of her message, stating, “Sometimes the public needs the truth, and that’s why I decided to release [it]…I think the message is so important.”

Lovato’s latest album, Holy Fvck, is out now.

Prospect Report: Yankees’ Matt Sauer Fans 17

Thursday’s Prospect Performers

Matt Sauer, RHP, Yankees: Sauer strung together one of the minors’ best pitching performances in years last night. Sauer struck out 17 batters in eight masterful innings against Double-A New Hampshire. He allowed only two hits and one run. Perhaps the most impressive stat is that he racked up all those strikeouts in just 95 pitches thanks to an exceptional 78% strike percentage. Sauer became the first full-season minor leaguer to strike out 17 batters in a game since Phil Pfeifer did so in July 2019 with the now defunct High-A Florida Fire Frogs. No other major or full-season minor league pitcher has struck out more than 14 in a game this year. DSL Rangers pitcher Jordy Arias did fan 17 in a game against the DSL Braves earlier this season.

Emiliano Teodo, RHP, Rangers: Teodo struck out 11 of the 16 batters he faced as he threw four hitless innings against Low-A Fredericksburg. Teodo walked three batters and one batter reached on a strikeout and a wild pitch. He did deal with runners in scoring position as he gave up four stolen bases. But Teodo stuck out four batters in the second and three in the third and fourth to get out of trouble.

Tanner Bibee, RHP, Guardians. Bibee has only gotten better since he was promoted to Double-A Akron. Bibee allowed one run in six innings against Richmond while walking one and striking out 10. It was his seventh time allowing one run or less in his nine Double-A starts as he lowered his ERA for Akron to 1.45.

Jordan Nwogu, OF, Cubs: The former Michigan star had a day to remember. Nwogu homered three times as part of a four-hit day that saw him score five runs. To say this day is an impressive bolt from the blue can be explained by this stat. Nwogu has 13 home runs this year, but yesterday’s game topped his monthly home run totals for April, May and June and is one off his four home runs in July.

Cuba: Luxury Hotels over Repairing Electric Plants – Havana Times

Maintenance and repair work of the Felton thermoelectric power plant, in Mayarí, shown on national television. (Captura)

Priorities: ‘There Is No Money’ to Repair Thermoelectric Plants in Cuba, But There is Plenty to Invest in Luxury Hotels

HAVANA TIMES – The panorama of Cuba’s national electricity system offered by the officials who appeared on State TV’s Roundtable program on Wednesday is catastrophic and, from what they said, will continue to be so for many more months. The Minister of Energy and Mines himself, Liván Arronte Cruz, declared that maintaining it “is expensive” – installing a megawatt (MW) of new power, he explained, costs between one million and 1.6 million dollars – and “it’s not possible to ensure everything.”

After the minister spoke, Edier Guzmán Pacheco, director of Thermal Generation of the Electric Union of Cuba (UNE), explained which blocks or units are out of service and how much it will cost to recover them. Adding up the figures provided by the staff member, the amount would be between $245 million and $265 million.

Specifically, Guzmán Pacheco explained that the Island has “20 thermal blocks” of which only 16 are available. “We have lost four generating blocks, many of them due to large breakdowns,” he said.

These lost units are blocks 6 and 7 of the Máximo Gómez Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE), in Mariel; block 2 of the Lidio Ramón Pérez CTE, in Felton, in the Holguin municipality of Mayarí, and block 4 of the Diez de Octubre plant, in Nuevitas (Camagüey), precisely where there have been the latest protests.

At the Mariel plant, unit 7 burned down on March 7, and the fire affected unit 6, which was only six months old. To reassemble turbine 7, Guzmán Pacheco acknowledged, “we don’t have the financing,” between 90 and 100 million dollars, he said.

Another fire, on July 8, was also what ruined Unit 2 in Felton, for which the Government has a budget of $55 million. “We don’t have that funding at the moment,” the official repeated.

Felton is also in full maintenance, the authorities reported on the program, and the estimated time for its full recovery will be, they said, “not less than one year.”

As for block 4 of Nuevitas, it will be the first to be ready, “in 40 days,” Guzmán Pacheco said, despite the fact that, at the same time, the “100 or 110 million euros” that the repair costs is “also an amount that we don’t have… We are seeking financing options, looking for credit options that allow us to make this block work,” he said.

If the 20 blocks were working, explained the director of the UNE, they would provide a total of 2,608 MW to the electricity system. With the four breakdowns, they give 2,042 MW. However, these are not constant either, “due to breakdowns and maintenance.”

As of yesterday, for example, block 2 of the Ernesto Guevara CTE, in Santa Cruz del Norte (Mayabeque), was damaged, and blocks 3 of Antonio Maceo, known as Renté, in Santiago de Cuba, and 1 of Felton, were “under maintenance.”

It’s not surprising, if you take into account this other figure provided on the Roundtable program: the average age of Cuba’s electric plants exceeds 35 years.

As usual, officials again blamed the situation on the U.S. embargo. “Due to the financing limitations and the economic siege of the blockade, we cannot count on the continuous participation of technical assistance that allows us to assimilate this technology,” Guzmán Pacheco said.

However, the lack of money for the repair of thermoelectric plants, some of which, they acknowledged, haven’t been maintained for a decade, contrasts with the financing of five-star hotels, whose construction doesn’t stop.

According to estimates by architects, the cost per room in a five-star hotel is 200,000 euros. In other words, an establishment like the 250-room Royalton Habana would have had a construction cost of 50 million, and a hotel with 100 rooms, 20 million.

Regarding the controversial K Tower of El Vedado — also called “López-Calleja tower” because it’s the work of the Gaesa military conglomerate, commanded until his recent death by Raúl Castro’s former son-in-law — some specialists have ventured its cost at a minimum of 200 million dollars; that is, almost the equivalent of the total investment needed to repair and update all the thermoelectric plants.

It’s time to saute some kale or make a delicious spinach salad because leafy green vegetables (think spinach, kale, Bok choy, collard greens, etc.) can help your gut bacteria in a unique way.

A study published in Nature Chemical Biology found that these leafy greens contain a unique sugar compound called sulfoquinovose (also known as SQ, because “sulfoquinovose” doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue). The good bacteria in your gut feeds on SQ for energy, so when you’re eating leafy greens, you’re essentially feeding the good bacteria in your gut microbiome.

What happens when we feed the good bacteria in our gut? The more energy that these good bacterias have, the more they’re able to build the protective barriers in our microbiome that are needed for keeping the bad bacteria at bay and stopping them from growing and multiplying.

A healthy gut is important because it affects more than just your stomach. In fact, your gut microbiome has been known to directly impact your cognitive health and impact your risk of neurodegenerative diseases as well.

A report published in Neurology states that the high fiber content of leafy greens can improve your gut health and therefore have neuroprotective qualities, helping to reduce cognitive decline.

At the end of the day, you can’t go wrong with eating whole foods that are high in fiber, like vegetables, for your gut health (not to mention your health in general). But if you’re a fan of leafy greens and can incorporate more of them into your daily meals, you’ll get an extra boost of gut-happy SQ to keep your good bacteria satisfied.
