Ismael ‘Pat’ Quinntana
b. 3 July 1937, Ponce, Puerto Rico. This important salsa vocalist was just 15 days outdated when his family members moved to NEW YORK. While attending senior high school he arranged a music group with some close friends, playing bongos. After graduating, he gigged in night clubs within the Bronx. Eddie Palmieri noticed Quintana at an audition with Orlando Marín. He was therefore impressed along with his performing style that whenever he shaped his music group in 1961, he asked Quintana to become business lead vocalist. Quintana performed with Palmieri between 1961 and 1973 and came back in 1981 to sing two paths on Eddie Palmieri. Quintana also co-wrote several Palmieri’s hit tracks. Quintana earned 1966’s trophy for typically the most popular Latin vocalist of the entire year, which was shown to him at New York’s Palladium. He produced his solo documenting debut on United Performers Information in 1968 with Punto Y Aparte. This record included ‘La Oportunidad’, organized by pianist Javier Vázquez. Quintana’s single career started in earnest when he agreed upon to Vaya Information, where he released five albums between 1974 and 1983. The very first, Ismael Quintana, included his strike structure ‘Mi Debilidad’, which highlighted an excellent piano single by Tag ‘Markolino’ Dimond. Louie Memoryírez contributed preparations to Ismael Quintana as well as the 1976 follow-up, Lo Que Estoy Viviendo, and was the documenting movie director on 1977’s Amor, Vida Y Sentimiento/Appreciate, Life And Emotions. Ismael joined up with the Fania All Superstars in 1975 and documented with them as much as 1984. He toured together in Africa, Japan, France, Central and SOUTH USA, the united states and the united kingdom (where he produced his just appearance in 1976) and made an appearance within the film Salsa (1976). He performed ‘Mi Debilidad’ with Fania All Superstars on 1975’s Live At Yankee Stadium Vol. 2. Quintana also made an appearance on Tito Puente’s 1st two tribute albums to Beny Moré, released in 1978 and 1979. He also sessioned thoroughly like a coro (chorus) vocalist and percussionist (maracas and güiro) numerous New York-based Latin performers and rings. In 1983, Quintana and Papo Lucca, who experienced performed piano and added arrangements towards the previous’s Vaya produces, teamed up to record Mucho Talento, which included a fantastic cover edition of Adalberto Alvarez’s structure ‘Vamos, Hablame Ahora’. Lamentably, following the Fania All Celebrities’ 1984 recording, Lo Que Pide La Gente, he faded from your picture. In 1991, Quintana reunited with Eddie Palmieri at New York’s Golf club Broadway for any dance to pay for tribute towards the vocalist. Also around the bill had been Johnny Pacheco, José Alberto and Tito Nieves.
