Local Roundup: American Canyon girls volleyball secures first in league

American Canyon beat Casa Grande at home in three sets, winning 25-10, 25-23, 25-6.

This win solidified the team’s first-place ranking in the Vine Valley Athletic League. Their record stands at 10-1 in league play.

Arianna Pacheco had 12 digs, five kills and four aces. Isabella Avila had 10 digs and two aces. Tessa Castro had four digs and two aces. Nalani Bustos had 25 assists, seven digs, and two aces. Giselle Torres had 11 kills. Ava Berry had four kills. Kennedy Brown had two blocks and three kills. Giana Guintu had four digs and two kills. Jaelyn Denina had two kills. Cassandra Kenning added two kills.

The Wolves last league match will be Thursday at home against Vintage High.

Earlier in the night the junior varsity team won 25-18, 25-15.

Keana Resultay had 21 digs,while Jennalyn Francisco and Zoe Lopez each had six digs, and Zoe Lopez 6 digs. Emeilia Johnson had six assists, while Alison Lewis had five kills and six assists. Adrienne Nicholas had eight digs and two kills, while Vanessa Vidrales-Zarate added five digs.

Girls Tennis

Bethel High sweeps Hercules

The Bethel High tennis team swept Hercules High, 7-0.

For singles matches, Zophia Santiago won 6-1, 6-2. Jazmine Santiago won 6-3, 6-1. Raven Guilas won 6-0, 6-0. Nureyczi Gonzalez won 6-2, 6-0.

For doubles matches, Naomi Munro and Marguerette Bui won 6-0, 6-1. Vy Tran and Kayla Domingo won 6-2, 6-1. Tamyah George and Jesaleia Adena won 6-1, 6-0.

The Jaguars next match will be Thursday at Salesian College Prep. Their record is 8-3 with three games left in the season.
