DeWALT dw745 Table Saw
DeWALT dw745 is an instrument that can please experienced masters, owners of small family productions, and craft fans.
A well-thought-out table and telescopic fence rails provide convenient workpiece processing of any size, including bulky items of high width up to 610 mm. You get a large 20-inch rip capacity to the right and 12-inch rip capacity to the left.
The parallel fence helps achieve synchronic movement and accurate measurements and cuts. The fence is set by a wheel and fixed by a lock mechanism.
The convenience of the table isnât limited by the fence. There is a quick bevel lock with a large scale. Due to it, you can saw wood, adjusting the blade angle from 0 to 45 degrees. The blade is raised and sunk to nearly 3 1/2 inches by a wheel under the table and next to the on/off switch.
The kit also includes a non-thru cut riving knife, one push stick, and one miter gauge.
Anyway, here we also see the Site-Pro Modular Guarding. Itâs used for tool-free adjustment of application-specific guarding components.
The saw has a transparent blade guard, which ensures your work will be safe. over, safety doesnât interfere in operation, so the guard gives free visibility and comprehensive control over the process. Blade replacement takes a couple of minutes, being as safe.
Operation is based on a 10-inch, 24-tooth carbide blade, which is run by a powerful 15 amp high-torque motor. The saw rotates with the speed of 3850 RPM, but high power and great load cannot damage the instrument. Masters can work with the hardest kinds of wood of any state since the DeWALT dw745 uses the overload protection system. It provides high performance even when working on hard, wet, frozen wood.
The saw is portable, for it weighs only 45 pounds. Being light enough for transportation, it isnât too light and unstable for usage. Here we see a metal roll cage, i.e., the steel frame that protects the saw from falls on the side.
The instrument will last for years. Cast table increases cutting accuracy, at the same time resisting scratches and other damage.
The table saw also includes a dust-collection port, which allows for a secure connection to a vacuum and not time-consuming cleaning of the worktop.
DeWALT dwe7485 Table Saw
DeWALT dwe7485 is another portable table saw of extraordinary quality and performance. This saw is a very close model to the previous dw745 but with a few essential changes.
So, the instrument uses the same 15 amp high-torque motor. This time, it produces 5800 RPM and also features anti-load protection.
It has the telescoping rack and pinion fence system. Parallel rails movement and adjustment are just as convenient as usual. Anyway, the rip capacity you have in the dwe7485 to the right is 24 œ inches, so the biggest and widest workpieces and sheets are no problem anymore. To the left, the rip capacity is 12 inches as well. You can also put the fence into several positions for versatile use.
The saw also uses the quick bevel lock to change the blade angle from 0 to 45 degrees. There is a smooth blade depth adjustment as well.
The manufacturer also designed two dust-collection ports with smaller and larger dust extraction points, so you can attach a vacuum and eliminate the dust at once.
The table saw features an 8-Πinches 24-tooth blade. Your finders are safe, as the blade is covered with a transparent plastic guard case.
Safety system also includes the power button. It features a special limiter, so the saw cannot be switched on accidentally, for example, by children.
The item provides Modular Guard system and on board storage. Thus, the user can have necessary supporting instruments in touch.
The kit includes handy push stick and non-thru cut riving knife, as well as a miter gauge. The dwe7485 took into account the drawbacks of the dw745 and tried to improve the gauge. Now, itâs metal and has a special fix, but it still plays a little.

So, the first thing you should know about is:
Only the DWE7491 accepts a dado blade. the other 3 table saws, dw745,dwe7480,dwe7485, will not support a dado set, since the arbor is too short to accommodate dado stacks.
To use the DWE7491 to do dados, you will need the Dado Throat Plate, part number is DWE7402D1 which is sold separately. Itâs recommended to stack dado blades thinner than 13/16-inch (20 mm) and use dado blades which have a diameter of 8 inch (200 mm) and smaller.
In short,if you want to do dado cuts, youâd better buy the DWE7491RS or DWE7491X (read the difference between the DWE7491RS and DWE7491X here).
One other difference you can see is the Rip Capability.
The DWE7491 has much larger rip capability than the others, it rips up to 22 inches to left of blade and 32-1/2 inches to right of blade. The DW745,DWE7480, and DWE7485 rip up to 12 inches to left of blade, and the max rip to the right of blade are 20 inches,24 inches and 24.5 inches.
Another difference is the No Load Speed.
The DWE7485 has the fastest speed, its no load speed is 5800 rpm. While the DW745 has the slowest speed, its no load speed is 3850 rpm. The other 2 saws,DWE7491 and DWE7480, have a no load speed of 4800 rpm.
Bevel Angle Range
Thereâs slight difference on the bevel angle. The DWE7491, DWE7485, DWE7480 and DW745 have bevel angle range of.2 to 47 degrees left.2 to 48 degrees left, 0 to 45 degrees left, 0 to 45 degrees left.
Blade Diameter and Max Cutting Depth
Only the DWE7485 uses an 8-1/4 inch blade whereas DW745,DWE7480 and DWE7491 use a 10 inch blade. Since the blade sizes are different, their max cutting capacity differs. The DWE7485 cuts up to 1-3/4 inches at 45 degree and 2-9/16 inches at 90 degree. While the DW745,DWE7480 and DWE7491cuts up to 2-1/4 inches and 3-1/8 inches.
Why Choose the DWE7491 Over the DW745,DWE7485?
With the ability to do a dado, the DWE7491 beats the other models. And the much wider rip capacity is another bonus. It also equipped with mechanism to remove the blade guard assembly/riving knife much easier.
For the people who are interested in buying this table saw, DeWALT does not offer an option to buy the saw only. There are 2 models to choose from: the DWE7491RS with rolling stand and the DWE7491X with scissor stand. The saw is mounted to the stand with bolts, not in a way that you can attach and detach quickly.
Commonly, the RS model is a bit more expensive than the X model. However, with the rolling stand, you can easily roll it to where you need and set it up without any hassle. And it also folds up for neat storage.
If you can afFORD to spend the extra money, then go for the DWE7491RS.
Why Choose DW745, DWE7485 over DWE7491?
Much cheaper and stand is optional.
If you are a beginner woodworker, you probably do not want to spend 500 to 600 dollars to buy a saw. So the DWE7491 is not your good choice. And for those who already have a saw stand or do not need the stand for some reasons, the 300 dollar or so DWE7485 and DW745 that do not come with a stand are better picks.
If you are an amateur woodworker and want a DeWALT table saw with 10 inch blade but not that expensive, than you can consider DW745.
The Bad
Despite the smaller saw blade, the DWE7485 weighs 10 lbs. more than itâs 10âł DW745 brethren. In addition, as with most job site saws⊠ripping plywood is a nightmare without a built in out-feed table and a friend.
Like the other DeWALT job site saws, you cannot add a dado stack. This isnât exclusive to this model, but thatâs a deal breaker to a lot of woodworkers. Also⊠thereâs a TON of plastic, itâs hard plastic, but thatâs the sacrifice you make for a portable saw. The dust collection on the blade guard is a nice addition as well, but I found that if thereâs any tension in your hose it causes the riving knife to deflect which can cause some issues.
DeWALTâs Incredible Shrinking Table Saw DWE7485
Recently, I found out that I was reviewing another DeWALT job site Table Saw and wondered what the deal was? The DW745S and the DW7480 are both consumer favorites with almost 2,000 reviews on Home Depot with a rating of 4.8 Stars. But now DeWALT is replacing those 10âł blade saws with the 8-1/4âł blade DWE7485? What gives?

DeWALT Shrinks The Table Saw
The 8-1/4âł Table Saw isnât anything new to DeWALT. The cordless Hybrid FlexVolt DCS7485 has been out for several years now. But a smaller table and a smaller blade isnât a subcompact trend most people are looking for in table saws.
Despite the shrinking tool trend, itâs actually a regulation thatâs causing the reaction. I first saw the reason over on TooLGuyd.com that the UL (safety standards org) is now pushing for a specific ratio of blade height to table size and spacing from the blade. The regulation went into effect at the end of 2019. This means we will being seeing a lot more smaller blades and tables or bigger overall table job site 10âł saws.
The Good
DeWALT Job Site Table Saws are the workhorse of the woodworking and construction community for a reason. They get a lot of things right. On board storage is fantastic for your push stick, fence, riving knife, cord and miter gauge.
As long as you donât abuse it, the rack and pinion telescoping fence is one of my favorite features in the line up. The DWE7485 also has a 5800 RPM motor compared to the 3850 from the 10âł DW745. Smaller blades mean higher RPMâs though.
The DeWALT DWE7485 Verdict
To me, blade size is a non-factor here. You arenât going to be ripping thick stock or running massive crosscuts on a compact job site table saw. The question is whether or not it cuts through standard stock? How accurately does it cut? And how secure and true is the fence?

DeWALT DWE7485 Table Saw
The DWE7485 is the newest model and can be seen as a replacement of the DW745, which although still for sale, seems to be slowly phased out as well. It has about the same size as the DW745, but doesnât ŃĐżĐŸŃŃ a full 10-inch blade anymore, and looks visually more like a small version of the DWE7491.
Although the 7485 has a smaller blade than the 745, it does have a larger rip capacity, which was the main limitation of the 745. The 7485 can rip up to 24 1/2 inches, which is just enough to rip a 48â sheet of plywood in half. You might need a helping Ń
ŃĐœĐŽ or some rollers, because the sheet will be hanging off the side. Still a good improvement over the 745 though.
The DWE7485 also runs at a much higher 5800 RPM compared to the DW745âs 3800 RPM, which should lead to smoother cuts.
DeWALT product names
DeWALT unfortunately isnât the best at naming their products. The names by themselves are not very catchy, and then they decide to change them whenever they introduce an updated version of a machine.
In the case of table saws, DeWALT currently sells 3 different base models, divided over 6 types, and including models with integrated stands or battery packs, 10 different versions.
Figuring out the difference between those odd model numbers can be tricky. But Iâve done some research, and Iâll do my best to explain the differences, so you can hopefully make some sense and pick the DeWALT table saw that fits you best!
Base Models
To start with the basics, all of DeWALTâs table saws are one of three basic models, namely the smaller DW745, the bigger DWE7491/7492, and the newest DWE7485.
DeWALT also used to sell the DWE7480, DW744, and DWE7490, but those are no longer available, so Iâll just Đ€ĐŸĐșŃŃ on the three base models I just mentioned.

Five versions: DWE7485, DCS7485B, DCS7485N, DCS7485T1, and DCS7485T2
To confuse things even more, there are five different versions of the 7485.
There is the standard wired DWE7485. DWE stands for DeWALT Wired (what the E stands for, I donât know!). Although the voltage and plug will be different, the rest of this saw is identical for North America and Europe (and the rest of the world).
The DCS7485 is the cordless FlexVolt version of the 7485. DCS stands for DeWALT Cordless Saw, so if you see that before the model number, youâll know itâs a portable, battery-powered saw.
DeWALT sells the DCS7485 in a standalone version (for people who already own FlexVolt batteries), which is called the DCS7485B in the United States, and the DCS7485N in Europe.
The DCS7485T1 (US) and DCS7485T2 (EU) do include two batteries and a charger, but these are not interchangeable, as the US version runs on 60 volts and the European version only on 54 volts.
