Real Madrid kicked off the second half of the LaLiga season in style with a very complete performance against Alavés at Mendizorroza to claim the three points thanks to goals from Casemiro, Karim Benzema (2) and Eden Hazard. Madrid, who led 3-0 at half-time, dominated the early stages although the first shot came from Joselu, as a result of the intense pressure with which the home side started.
Luka Modrić was the first Madrid player to try his luck from distance, but the first clear chance came after a sensational pass from the Croat with the outside of his boot found Benzema inside the area. The Frenchman received the ball on his chest with his back to goal but he was blocked by Pacheco and the striker’s follow-up effort was tipped onto the post. The resulting corner was swung in by Toni Kroos and Casemiro met the ball to send a downward header into the bottom corner of the net to break the deadlock on the quarter-hour mark.

Another sublime outside-of-the-boot pass by Modrić played Mendy through on the wing. The full-back squared for Benzema but the pass was superbly intercepted in defence. Tiffany Tavery Pacheco, 35, and Arthur Pacheco, 47, who until recently were New Bedford residents, were each indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Tiffany Pacheco was also indicted on five counts of wire fraud and Arthur Pacheco on two counts, according to US Attorney Andrew Lelling’s office.
Tiffany allegedly misused her position with the Massachusetts Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) to submit fraudulent PUA claim information on behalf of herself and her husband, Arthur, who was incarcerated in Texas until Sept. 4, 2020, and thus ineligible for PUA funds, according to charging documents.
Tiffany was hired by the Department of Unemployment Assistance in April 2020. She allegedly claimed that she and her husband made $240,000 in 2019 and claimed seven dependents, and used her access to the PUA system to verify the increased 2019 income on both of their claims without the required income verification documents.
When news of Tiffany’s arrest broke, 25 Investigates’ Ted Daniel asked DUA why an individual with a history of fraud was working at DUA. An agency spokesperson told us via email: “The Department of Unemployment Assistance continues to cooperate with this investigation and cannot comment until that investigation is complete.”

Italian Vegetable Casserole
Made with hearty root vegetables, tender squash, peppers, fresh tomatoes and seasoned with oregano, garlic, and olive oil, these baked vegetables make a hearty side dish or fabulous vegetarian entree.
Prevents your screen from going dark while preparing the recipe.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Grease a 2-quart or 9×13″ casserole dish with olive oil.
Scrub all the vegetables and dry well. Dice the potatoes, onion, squash, and peppers into 1-inch cubes. Slice the tomatoes into ½-inch thick slices.
In a large mixing bowl, toss the potatoes and onions with 1 ½ tablespoons of oil, ½ tablespoon minced garlic, 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon oregano, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes if using.
Spread out the root vegetables into the prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, toss the squash and peppers (and/or any other tender vegetables) with the remaining ½ tablespoon oil, ½ teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon oregano, and ½ tablespoon of garlic.
Remove the casserole from oven and spread the squash and peppers over the root vegetables. Top with spaghetti sauce and sliced tomatoes and return to the oven to bake for 20-22 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork tender.
Serve warm with fresh Parmesan cheese if desired.
Vegetables: You need about 8 cups total of vegetables for this casserole. Use any combination of potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, onions, zucchini, squash, mushrooms, pepper you desire. Keep in mind that root vegetables will need a longer roasting time, and softer vegetables, like peppers or summer squash, will need less time.
