Pacheco Dominates Round 1 of PBR ZipRecruiter Invitational, Presented by Cooper Tires, in Nampa – News

NAMPA, Idaho – As the second-to-last event of the 2022 Unleash The Beast (UTB) season before the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) World Finals on May 13 in Fort Worth, Texas, a lot is on the line in Nampa this weekend.
2018 PBR World Champion Kaique Pacheco (Itatiba, Brazil) capitalized on the dwindling opportunities for world points as the PBR Ziprecruiter Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires, began on Friday night, clinching the Round 1 win.
Pacheco, who has been furiously climbing in the world standings over the last few months, was one of only nine men to record rides in Round 1 as the bovine athletes of the PBR dominated throughout the evening.
Paired with Blunt Force Trauma (Hadley Cattle Co.), the stoic former World Champion made the ride look effortless as he sailed to the night’s highest score of 88.25 points. The opening-night victory earned him 28 world points.
As he makes a play to gain ground on world leader Joao Ricardo Vieira (Itatinga, Brazil), Pacheco ended the night maintaining a tight grip on the No. 3 spot in the world standings.
Vieira, however, had a disappointing first night in Idaho.
Paired with Gate Keeper (Howell Rodeo Company Inc.), he lost control and was flung to the ground after a mere 3.18 seconds. Despite the setback, he still sits 72.84 points ahead of No. 2 Daylon Swearingen (Piffard, New York) and 156 points ahead of Pacheco.
Swearingen shared third place in Round 1 with Ramon de Lima (Rio Branco, Brazil) with identical 87-point scores.
Both riders received 16.5 world points for their successful night.
Swearingen, battling it out to try and overcome Vieira’s claim on the No. 1 spot as the weeks wind down to the World Finals, was paired with Facetious (Paradigm Bull Company) as the crowd inside of the Ford Idaho Center cheered him on.
After besting Bubba G (Dakota Rodeo/ Brian & Ashley Pintar/ Clay Struve/ Chad Berger), Lima climbed one position in the world standings from No. 31 to No. 30.
Clayton Sellars (Fruitland Park, Florida) was close on Pacheco’s heels, coming in second after an 88-point ride aboard King Brute (Crooked Crown Bucking Bulls/ Braswell Bucking Bulls) to collect 18 world points.
Starting the night at No. 26 in the world standings, Sellars advanced up the ranks two spots to No. 24 as Round 1 came to a close.
Rounding out the Top 5 for Round 1 in Nampa was Manoelito de Souza Junior (Itamira, Brazil).
The 26-year-old was paired with Mr. Winston (Dakota Rodeo/ Mark Baker/ Clay Stuve/ Chad Berger) early in the round.
Souza was all smiles as his 86.5-point score came in.
Earning 15 world points for his night, Souza holds at No. 17 in the world standings.
The best bull riders in the world will return to the Ford Idaho Center at 6:45 p.m. MDT on Saturday, April 23, for Round 2 of the PBR Ziprecruiter Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires.
