Pacheco: I Feel Motivated To Be Working With Jose Benavidez Sr. – Boxing News

SAN DIEGO – Diego Pacheco is eager to show off the finished product from a camp spent under a new team.

The rising 20-year-old super middleweight prospect is set for his first fight under head trainer Jose Benavidez Sr. The moment comes in a scheduled eight-round clash with veteran trialhorse Genc ‘The Sexy Albania’ Pllana (9-3-1, 5KOs) on DAZN’s ‘Before The Bell’ preliminary undercard Saturday at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.

“I feel very motivated to be working with Jose Benavidez Sr. and alongside David Benavidez and Jose Valenzuela,” Pacheco told BoxingScene.com. “The three of us are young. We have that hunger to keep growing in the sport.”

South Central’s Pacheco (13-0, 10KOs) received a lot of great work in the presence of Benavidez (25-0, 22KOs), a former two-time WBC super middleweight titlist who—at just 25 years of age—still has a bright future ahead of him. Benavidez had to alter his camp to adjust to a new fight date of May 21, while Valenzuela—a 22-year-old lightweight prospect—returns April 16 on the Errol Spence-Yordenis Ugas Showtime Pay-Per-View undercard in Arlington, Texas.

The energy in camp was more than enough to motivate Pacheco to bring his game to the next level, which can only be good news for the man tasked with enhancing an already rising young talent.

“It’s an honor to be part of Diego Pacheco’s career,” Benavidez Sr. told BoxingScene, com. “He is a very talented fighter and I feel a great responsibility and huge commitment. The key is to work very hard and smart to move and develop his talent even more.”

Pacheco has put in plenty of work in preparing for Pllana, a durable super middleweight from Hagerstown, Maryland by way of Kosovo who has never been dropped or stopped through more than four years as a pro. Pacheco has stopped his last two opponents—including an eighth-round knockout of unbeaten Lucas de Abreu in his most recent start last October in Fresno, California. An early night at the office is not the primary goal; more so, delivering a complete performance on Saturday and continuing to grow under new leadership.

“I’ve been around for a while, and I feel like a lot of people forget I’m still 20 years old. I’ve made a few changes in my camp and learned a lot this training camp with Coach Benavidez. I feel stronger than ever. Can’t wait to show all my fans an exciting night of boxing.”

Pacheco-Pllana serves in supporting capacity to a 12-round junior bantamweight fight between legendary former four-division champion Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez (50-3, 41KOs) and WBC flyweight titlist Julio Cesar Martinez (18-1, 14KOs; 2ND), whose belt is not at stake.

Fresno County Awards Millions to Hospitals, Marjaree Mason Center

On Tuesday morning, the Fresno County Board of Supervisors joined by Fresno County health officials, announced the approval of $6 million for community hospitals in an effort to help fight COVID-19.

The recipient hospitals are Community Regional Medical Center, Saint Agnes Medical Center, and Clovis Community Medical Center.

In addition, the county recently awarded $4.7 million to the Marjaree Mason Center, Supervisor Nathan Magsig said. The center is the county’s only dedicated provider of domestic violence shelter and support services.

These funds come from the $194 million in coronavirus state and local recovery aid under the American Rescue Plan Act.

“The American rescue funds are supposed to go directly to attacking COVID and that’s what the Fresno Board of Supervisors is doing,” said board chair Brian Pacheco. “Fighting COVID is a team effort. So it is with deep gratitude and appreciation that we do this effort to help our hospitals.”

How Will Funds Help Hospitals?

Pacheco said the funding announced Tuesday would directly help hospitals secure supplies and medicine, along with securing additional staffing.

“We believe that we are at the peak of our omicron phase and our hospitals deal with COVID-19 on a daily basis,” said Pacheco. “The good news is that our numbers are gradually coming off those peaks since last week. However, our county still has some challenges ahead and it is the people on the front lines, our friends in the medical community, who are our last line of defense in protecting us.”

David Luchini, director of the Fresno County Department of Public Health, said that while the omicron variant was found to be less severe in comparison to past variants, it was a much more infectious virus that led to a significant number of people needing hospitalization.

“The omicron variant surge impacted Fresno County, Southern California, Bay Area, and the Sacramento area much worse than the delta variant in terms of hospitalizations,” said Luchini. “When other counties throughout the state are greatly impacted at the same time, costs for hiring travel and health care workers go up.”

Vaccinations Are No. 1 Priority

While this new funding will be a big help for hospitals, their biggest challenge is getting the majority of county residents vaccinated, say health officials.

Fresno County interim health director Dr. Rais Vohra speaks at a press conference on  Feb. 8, 2022. (GV Wire/Liz Juarez)

In the state, 80% of California residents are fully vaccinated, but only 57.8% of individuals are fully vaccinated in Fresno County.

“We know that the science of vaccines is getting crystal clear day by day, and we know that vaccines work, that boosters work and that’s what’s keeping people out of the hospitals,” said Dr. Rais Vohra, the county’s interim health officer. “Unfortunately, we just have a large pool of people that haven’t yet been vaccinated, and those are the folks that we’re treating at our local hospitals.”

$122 Million Set Aside for Public Health, COVID-19 Impacts

Paul Nerland, Fresno County’s administrative officer, said much of the $194 million will be split among different efforts. However, at least $122 million is earmarked for public health and the economic impacts of COVID-19.

“We felt like last time when we had the CARES Act funding in the last round that we ended up using all of that,” said Nerland. “It seemed like a lot of money at the time and so we want this money to be spent in a way that is both wise and makes an impact that is lasting.”

Fresno County Supervisor Nathan Magsig said that the $194 million might sound like a lot of money, but he warned the funding could go very quickly because of the great need for services  among county residents.

Fresno County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday Feb. 8, 2022, announce that $6 million in funding will be allocated to  county hospitals to help against COVID-19. (GV Wire/Liz Juarez)

The ARPA funding can be invested or used in four areas intended for public health, economic recovery, public sector revenue loss, essential workers, and infrastructure. The funding must be spent  by Dec. 31, 2024.

While $6 million in ARPA funding is slated to go directly to hospitals, much of the remaining funds will continue to be allocated to other services and programs throughout the county including homelessness, domestic violence, behavioral health as well as a continuation in providing COVID-19 testing and vaccines, said Magsig.

About $5 million to $7 million a month pays for COVID-19 testing and vaccines.

Daily Report – Bitcoin and Market Update (February 19 2022) – The Birb Nest

HTF 12H:

The middaily chart is revealing a bunch of technical implications derived of the most recent breakdown below the key support level at $40500. Let’s dive into the details.

Firstly, the fear-induced breakdown below the said support level has been empowered by the selloffs seen also on the external markets like equities. It is essential to understand that bitcoin is a subject to the macroeconomic and fundamental changes coming from the outside of the crypto market. More often than note, such external events like monetary policy changes, rate hikes, media manipulation (see Russia-Ukraine tensions), etc. In such instances, technical analysis is of secondary importance and even the best-looking chart may be disrupted by the external news at any time. Technical analysis gives a spectrum of the behavior between the traders seen INSIDE the market, assuming the OUTSIDE factors remain the same.

Trend wise, BTCUSD is still trading in a new bullish trend started at the bottom of the $33000 area. Now it is attempting to make an another higher low against the bottom. Locally it’s failed to hold the support line at the 41500 USD zone and hence is in a short-term downwards trend, being a corrective wave to the trend initiated at the market lows. Technical invalidation to the ongoing upwards trend seems to occur when a daily candle closes below 36000 USD level as of now. Price action based support is at 38250 USD region. Similarly, the resistance seems to be at the 50500 USD region.

As we dive deeper, the BirbicatorPRO has flashed an invalidation to the bullish control over the market since the breakdown of the 40500 USD level. For that, the bears have re-gained the short or medium term control over the market. Note that it does not certainly mean BTC is heading south to 20k as many may fear it is. Instead it means that the bears have the upper hand and are who dictates the play for the next days.
The bulls can re-gain the upper hand with a clean break and close above the CTF Trailer Stop at 43768 USD. The Level Lines provide bitcoin with support at 39158 USD locally. Meanwhile, the resistances are as follows: 46877, 52670 USD for the nearest anchors.

MTF 4H:

The MTF chart shows a set of the BPRO indicators.

The Momentum Bands imply that the expected range for the next days of bitcoin is given at the 38000-44600 USD zone based on average volatility per standard deviations. The dark orange shade of the Low Band indicate that the momentum is oversold while BTCUSD is trading near the volatility lows.

The BWAP block shows a zone based on the price and volume and for now plays a short-term supply zone – unless bitcoin pumps above 40500 USD.

BPRO Level Lines show resistance at:

45641
43078
41376

BPRO Level Lines show supports at:

38678
36208

These levels could be anticipated to serve as level-to-level references. In other words, when one level is breached, the next one in the direction of the movement can be expected to act as the next “magnet”

LTF 1H:

The hourly chart with the BPRO applied gives a clean picture for the major levels in the chart to note.

The Baseline Wave Pivots analysis shows that the main resistances are located at the 41600 USD and 44250 USD areas.

The local congestion and frequent polarity flips is occurring between the 39500 USD lows and the 41000 USD highs of the local sideways movement.

The overall instability of the financial markets past couple of days are not working in favor of the short-term bullishness. If added the sideways movement on top of that, it potentially lines up a short-term breakdown scenario which could potentially lead to the low 38000s USD region retest. It is, unless the 41600 USD is reclaimed with a daily close above.

FEAR/GREED INDEX

The military tensions seem to have induced quite a lot of fear inside the crypto market.

The sentiment is back at the extreme fear conditions.

As I often state, the crowds are usually right in the middle of trends and usually wrong about anticipating the extremes and reversals.

While the short-term movements are more or less chaotic and “random” due to the uncertainty, lack of momentum, the sentiment reads the current prices as potentially attractive within the medium or long-term scope of trading. For now, such an environment does not provide enough stability or predictability to open any new short-term positions in my view.

18 Year Old UK Boxer Hollie Towl Secures European Championship After Defeating Nadia Flalhi of Italy

Teen Sensation Hollie Towl Secures European Crown After Battle Royale Against Italy’s Nadia Flalhi

Hollie Towl may only be 18 years of age, but already she is competing at the highest level in the professional game, just as she did as an amateur, winning no less than five National championships as well as many other regional accolades.

Since turning pro in September 2020 the sensational teen has racked up an impressive 6-0-0 record and is the youngest World Champion, of either gender, having secured the Women’s International Boxing Association (WIBA) Featherweight World Championship back in September 2021, with a win over Argentina’s Cristina Del Valle Pacheco.

On Sunday afternoon Towl stepped up a division to challenge and beat former Italian Amateur National Champion Nadia Flalhi to secure the Professional Boxing Council (PBC) Super Featherweight European Championship by unanimous decision; winning every round on judges Carla Fox and Steve Tighe’s scorecards and winning all but three rounds which judge Adrian Thorne scored as drawn on his card.

On paper this was as as close to a genuine fifty-fifty contest you possibly wish for, exceptional amateur careers and both unbeaten as professionals, so no surprise then that the actual fight soon became a full on Battle Royale.

Right from the opening bell both sensational young warriors went into battle, it was breathtaking watching the contest unfold, initially Flalhi took full advantage of her height and superior reach to keep Towl at bay, but Towl is as savvy as they come and it wasn’t long before she used her exceptional ring craft to neutralise the Italian’s height and reach advantage, before letting rip with scintillating flurries and big shots to head and body.

As the fight progressed Flalhi adapted her game plan and drew the feisty teen to the inside, a plan that may have worked on others with less ability, but not with Towl, she was just as happy to go to war up close and took advantage of every opportunity that came her way.

In addition to the sensational Towl versus Flalhi finale of the Boyle Pro Boxing promoted event, the fans in attendance were treated to five further closely matched contests.

Worksop’s Eleanor Coulson extended her record to 5-1-0 after her opponent Aimee Moody was forced to retire at the end of the first with a serious knee injury.

Middleweight Cameron Moran took his record to 2-0-0 with a close victory over the extremely tough Afghan born Londoner Zahir Bennett. Moran versus Bennett was without doubt a leading candidate for Fight of the Night, as with Towl versus Flalhi it was an all action affair.

Cruiserweight Alvis Berzins extended his unbeaten record to 3-0-1 with a closely fought victory over debuting Owen James. After four sensation rounds Referee Lee Murtagh scored the contest 39-38.

Chesterfield Super Middleweight Luke White endured a baptism of fire on his pro debut against Chessington, Surrey hard man Richard Harrison. White securing his first win as a pro by a 40-37 points victory.

Worksop’s Ben Gore made a surprise appearance, following debuting Jayden Harris pulling out the day before, and faced Belfast’s Marty Kayes. Clearly was worthwhile stepping up to the plate for Gore as Referee Adrian Thorne scored the contest in his favour 40-37.

Boxing fans will not have to wait long to watch these young warriors in action again, as Boyle’s Pro Boxing has another event planned at the Shirebrook Leisure Centre in Mansfield on the 26th March 2022, and as with Sunday’s event will be broadcast exclusively live on FITE, in association with KC Sofas, and word is Chris Boyle is contemplating Hollie Towl making her first defence of her WIBA Featherweight World title – watch this space!

Daily Report – Bitcoin and Market Update (February 16 2022) – The Birb Nest

HTF 12H:

The middaily chart with the most recent candlesticks displays a sequence of small-body candles forming a consolidation movement.

On the negative note, bitcoin seems to be trading near the short-term supply at around 45000 USD. The intraday price action does not seem to favor any specific direction. Every session spent under the resistance brings chances of downwards correction into the 36000-38000 USD region.

On the positive record, BTCUSD is trading high over the key prior resistances and so far confirming the upwards orientation of the market. Ever since breaking over the 3-month trend line, bitcoin has traded in the new upwards trend.

The way I read it, BTC is attempting to break out of the consolidation 41.7-45.7k USD with the base size of $4000. An upwards breakout would imply a target, based on the measured rule, nearing the psychological resistance at 50000 USD ($45700 + $4000 gives $49700 theoretical target). A follow-through to the upside is confirmed with a daily close above the 45700 USD level.

The BirbicatorPRO is confirming the bullish mode of the trend. The BWAP block, backed by price and volume, suggests a key support/resistance region at the 43500-44500 USD. A clean break-through could result in a further upwards continuation into the new highs.

MTF 4H:

The MTF chart shows a short-term bullishness per the CTF Trailer setup.

The bulls have re-gained the upper hand since the breakout above 43500 USD resistance. The short-term bullish concept is defended as long as BTCUSD does not close below the CTF Trailer Stop at 42158 USD.

The BWAP block shows a resistance at the 44-44.4k USD region. In case of a failure to reclaim above this zone, there is a chance of visiting the lower levels.

The Level Lines reveal that the most relevant short-term resistance is defined at the $45641 level.

BPRO Level Lines show supports at:

41376
38678
36208

These levels could be anticipated to serve as level-to-level references. In other words, when one level is breached, the next one in the direction of the movement can be expected to act as the next “magnet”

LTF 1H:

The hourly chart displays BTCUSD hitting the local demand block defined by the BPRO (the orange box).

The most essential pivotal level is defined at the 43650 USD level, which has technically not been broken down with the most recent candle close. It seems that a clean close below the floor level at $43400 could trigger the stop loss orders into a cascade of sells or a flash dump into the 42300-42600 USD area, defined by the subsequent area indicated by the clean pivot lines in the orange.

Local resistance seems to be mainly concentrated at the $44250 level. A strong reclaim over that level seems to bring higher chances of BTCUSD continuing higher into the 49-50k USD region, eventually.

Bitcoin: Number of Active Addresses (50d Moving Average)

As the glassnode explains, this on-chain metric is defined as “the number of unique addresses that were active in the network either as a sender or receiver. Only addresses that were active in successful transactions are counted.”

In favor of the bulls, the 50-day mean is curving up, which means that the medium-term on-chain activity and congestion is heading north. It is potentially supportive of the price increase.

Short-term wise, the 7-day average shows relatively increasing activity while the price remains short-term sideways. It is, again, potentially supportive of further upwards trajectory.

Eventually, the charts tell the story as it is. Yet, more often than not, major swings in the markets come from the external factors. It is better to be safe than sorry in terms of not getting over exposed to the risky positions, as long as e.g. the Russia-Ukraine tensions fade away.

More details in the exclusive video report. Cheers and God bless.
