Diego Pacheco-Jack Cullen, DAZN Undercard Weigh-In Results From Liverpool – Boxing News
Diego Pacheco is set for his first headlining act.
It comes more than 5,000 air miles from home, as the 21-year-old South Central Los Angeles native will face Jack Cullen in a scheduled 10-round super middleweight bout. Both boxers made weight for their makeshift main event this Saturday on DAZN from M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, England.
Pacheco packed 166.4 pounds into his lean 6’4” frame, while Little Lever’s Cullen was 167 ½ pounds.
Local favorite Callum Smith was originally due to headline the show versus Poland’s Pawel Stepien. However, the fight was scrapped when Smith—a former WBA super middleweight titlist and current WBC light heavyweight mandatory challenger—tweaked his back which put him on the sidelines for roughly 6-8 weeks from the point of injury.
Pacheco (17-0, 14KOs) is coming off a 2022 Prospect of the Year-nominated campaign that saw the unbeaten boxer score four knockout wins in as many fights. His most recent feat came in a two-round blitzing of Adrian Luna on the Juan Francisco Estrada-Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez undercard last December 3 in Glendale, Arizona. A chief sparring partner for two-time WBC super middleweight titlist David Benavidez, Pacheco has stopped each of his last six opponents.
The always entertaining Cullen (21-3-1, 9KOs) fought just once in 2022, earning an eight-round points victory over Vladimir Belujsky last April 16 in Manchester, England. The feat put the 29-year-old Cullen back in the win column after he suffered a sixth-round stoppage defeat to unbeaten Kevin Lele Sadjo in December 2021.

Two nursing home caregivers sentenced to jail after 86-year-old patient left outside – CBS Colorado
Two of the three employees of a Grand Junction assisted living facility charged in the exposure death of an Alzheimers patient recently received short jail sentences.
That patient, 86-year-old Hazel Place, was found outside Grand Junction Cappella Assisted Living and Memory Care’s building on June 14, 2021. She who was reportedly left unattended in the summer heat for six hours.
Prosecutors with the Colorado Attorney General’s Office told CBS4 that temperatures that day reached 100 degrees.
The state office subsequently charged each of the three employees – Letticia Martinez, Jamie Johnston and Jenny Logan – with criminally negligent homicide, a felony.
Martinez, 28, pleaded guilty to the charge last year and was sentenced in December, according to online court records. The judge sentenced to Martinez to 30 days in jail and 100 hours of community service, then deferred that sentence for three years (meaning the sentence is suspended on the condition Martinez refrains from further criminal activity during that time frame, and the charges will be erased from her record if she fulfills that requirement). But Martinez did receive a sentence of three years probation on a separate misdemeanor charge of neglect.
Johnston, 32, pleaded to the felony charge in December and was sentenced Monday to 60 days in jail, 150 hours of community service, and three years probation.
Case records show Martinez and Johnston had also been originally charged with falsifying documents during the incident.
Logan, 52, was found not guilty of the charges against her by a Mesa County jury during the last week of January.
A relative of Place previously told CBS4 that she was informed the woman had died a half hour after being placed in a courtyard in the evening. However, an anonymous call the following day disputed that story.
“She goes your mom didn’t die like that, that’s not what happened,” Place’s daughter Donna Golden recalled. “She said you need to ask to see the surveillance, and you need an autopsy.”
Her relatives said Place had lived at the assisted living home for three years. She was taken there after an Alzheimers diagnosis.
A spokesperson for Grand Junction Cappella Assisted Living and Memory Care, Pam Sullivan, provided the following statement to CBS4:
Today’s sentencing of Jamie Johnston, who was terminated for her role in the unfortunate passing of Ms. Hazel Place in June of 2021, closes a very difficutl chapter in the criminal proceedings. We believe the legal outcomes of all three cases speak for themselves.
We are so sorry the family had to endure this tragic loss and endure these legal proceedings. We continue to hold them in our thoughts and prayers.
We are focused on the well-being and safety of the older adults we have the privilege to serve. We take this responsibility very seriously and are, as always, committed to the quality of care and services we provide.
Sullivan confirmed that Martinez and Johnston were terminated immediately after the incident. Logan was later fired as well.
“Our hearts go out to the family of Hazel Place,” Lawrence Pacheco, spokesman for the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, told CBS4. “We hope that these cases bring attention to the need to protect older Coloradans with Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia, as well as the need to account for their safety when they are entrusted to care facilities.”

Eddie Hearn blames Tyson Fury for Oleksandr Usyk fight delay
Eddie Hearn believes that Tyson Fury’s financial demands are preventing an undisputed heavyweight title showdown with Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury and Usyk are in negotiations to crown the first four-belt heavyweight title holder, but talks seems to have stalled with Fury’s promoter Frank Warren insisting a decision must be made by the end of this week.
A lucrative clash in Saudi Arabia appears to now be off the table with Wembley Stadium appearing to be the frontrunner should the pair seal a meeting on April 29.
Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk told talkSPORT that WBC champion, Fury, who was confronted by the 36-year-old after beating Derek Chisora in December, rejected an offer which would have seen the victor bank 60% of the overall split.
Speaking ahead of his show in Liverpool on Saturday, the Matchroom Chairman claimed ‘The Gypsy King’ is at fault for the lack of progress in discussions.

“Anthony Joshua fought Oleksandr Usyk back-to-back no f***ing problems,” Hearn told IFLTV.
“No questions. No long negotiations.
‘That’s my mandatory? I’ll fight him.’

“Everyone said swerve Usyk, he’s a tough tough fight, you don’t want to fight him, AJ said ‘no, I want to be undisputed, give me Usyk’. Done.
“The rematch comes in, you don’t want to fight Usyk, you need a warm up fight, ‘give me Usyk’.

“When are you guys going to start understanding.
‘It’s not about the money, I’ll fight him for free, and make the tickets free for the general public’. F**k Off! You want money, you want too much money, you’re not the draw you think you are.
“That fights not as big as you think it is.”

Hearn promoted Usyk’s last two fights against Anthony Joshua, which saw the Ukrainian claim the unified heavyweight world titles before defending them in a rematch in Saudi Arabia in August.
Joshua returns on April 1 against Jermaine Franklin in a must-win clash at the O2 Arena, his first non-world title bout in over seven years.
