After witnessing so much suffering,
I felt a complete abandonment of hope;
Around all systems, I couldn’t cope,
In despair, I found myself muttering,
No sign of relief, just endless buffering.
There once was a man named Byron Black,
Convicted for a gruesome attack.
As the lethal injection was given,
He claimed he was “hurting so bad” livin’,
For the murders he could never take back.
There once was a man quite absurd,
Whose words left everyone stirred,
His mindless and amoral ways,
Earned him harsh social media praise,
For saying things completely absurd.
There once was a motorist fined,
Over $1,000 he whined,
Banned from driving three months,
He faced the consequences at once,
Now his car sits idly confined.
There once was a lawmaker from Texas,
Who decried the Republicans’ nexus,
They called for us to be ‘hunted down,’
In the Lone Star State’s political crown,
Such words left us feeling quite perplexus.
There once was a shooter, it’s true
With a handgun, not military issue
Few details were known
About how it was sown
But the violence, alas, did ensue
There once was a Rep from Texas state,
Who said, “If the majority cheats, we won’t participate!”
He urged the minority to refrain,
From engaging in such a campaign,
For fairness is what we must advocate.
There once was a man named Trump
Who said, “He’s doing a great job.”
He may lead the GOP mob
After his term, he’d be on top
Favored by many, he’d never flop.
There once was a tourist, so mad
About Trump and the way he had
Bullied museums with might
To rewrite history in sight
Erasing trans folks made him sad
There once were some departments in need,
Relying on funds guaranteed,
From NSF and DOE,
And NIH to show,
Support for their work they decreed.
