DeWALT 6.5-Amp Top Handle Jig Saw

#9

Awesome! Thank you! I’ve been waiting for the two tool deal including the jigsaw and the palm router for around $200 for a long time now. But at this price, I have to bite on the jigsaw and hope for a router deal in the future. Thanks again so much!

Edit: ah, I just realized that this is the corded version. It’s still an amazing deal but I’m trying to go battery for all hand power tools on my shop… The order is placed but I’m going to have to sleep on the decision. My current jigsaw is a beat to hell skil from a yard sale and I go to the bandsaw or scroll saw for everything because it’s a pain to use it. This would be a sure upgrade but I would be replacing it once the jigsaw+router deal pops again. I suppose the question is: what’s the resale value on this corded version…?

10-Piece DeWALT Bi-Metal Reciprocating Saw Blade Set w/ Case (DW4898) $10 + Free Shipping w/ Prime or on $25+

#2

I bought this a couple months ago at the same price. Typical Dewalt blades. Nothing special, dull fairly quickly, I really appreciate the included storage box. In all, I’d recommend at this price (def not at the regular price). Good assortment of types and sizes, adequate quality, handy storage box. Ordered another set because blades are a consumable and this is cheaper than struggling through a cut with a dulling blade.

in comparison to the Milwaukee Ax carbide tipped demo blades I got last month (2 for $11) this Dewalt set is a better value at $10. The Ax cut great at first but didn’t provide much better service life in comparison to the Dewalts.

Just remember: this set drops to $10 with great regularly, so don’t rush to buy if you don’t need blades soon.

Black + Decker Bev is The Keurig Style Home Bar We’ve Been Waiting For

Most of us wouldn’t dream of mixing power tools and booze, but Black+Decker, perhaps known best for its lineup of tools, is getting into the bartending game. As part of CES 2022, Black+Decker announced “Bev,” an at-home bartending machine designed to take the guesswork out of mixing an evening cocktail.

To be fair, Black+Decker does also make a variety of home appliances, so maybe it’s not that unusual the company is launching this countertop bartender. The machine looks huge; kind of like a Keurig crossed with a BowFlex. With beefy arms that encircle up to five bottles of liquor and drilling-rig-style straws that penetrate the bottle tops for instant extractions, you can keep a variety of common alcohols at the ready for an impromptu sipping session.

But where things get interesting is that Black+Decker has teamed up with Bartesian to use premixed cocktail pods (no alcohol, just mixes) to expand the variety of drinks your Bev can crank out. Bartesian makes dozens of cocktail mixers that are meant for use with a variety of spirits and have different flavor profiles (and, for the most part, contain simply water, sugar and various flavorings). Interestingly Black+Decker Bev costs less than Bartesian’s own bartending machine.

With Bev, you can customize your drink strength, from newbie to master and LED lighting classes up the joint, even including a “party mode” for when you really want to kick that home bash into gear.

Bev by Black+Decker will be available in spring 2022, starting at $299. Bartesian cocktail capsules and bottles of spirits are, perhaps obviously, not included.

DeWALT DCF887D2 20V MAX XR Brushless 1/4″ 3-Speed Impact Driver Kit

#4

Currently $89 on Amazon for the bare tool (sold and shipped by Marketplace seller Toolup). That makes the batteries about $20 each. Fair if you need a couple 2ah batteries I guess. Lowest price for bare tool sold by Amz in the last 12 mos. is $98.

If you need the tool and want the batteries and case, this is a good deal.

If you need it, this a good deal ….the brushless 3 speed DCF887 with variable speed trigger has proven itself in the field with a rated 1,825 in-lb of torque that translates to 152 ft/lbs.

The DCB203 batteries with a fuel gauge are nice batteries and great for low power consuming tools…. an upgrade from the basic ones and not lugging a heavier battery around all day from the belt clip. One can find the larger amp batteries for $10/amp, but these will typically be more expensive….. $75 for the 2 batteries, charger and storage box would be very reasonable, that leaves about $55 for the bare tool.

How do you all like the Dewalt 887 impact driver? I recently got the 787 impact driver as part of a larger set. I have a Hitachi (before they sold to Metabo) that works just fine, but wanted the Dewalt circular and reciprocating saw, and decided to replace the older Hitachi.

Long story short, the Dewalt has nice power, is light weight, but has a very poor impact action. Meaning, that it has good torque, but very low impacting action, and started stripping screws. The Hitachi never had that problem, and handled the same screws fine.

Before I move to a nicer model, wanted to see if you all had any experience?

DeWalt DCB205 20V MAX 5Ah Battery

#4

Stellar price, this is what a 5ah battery sells for on the grey market (Craigslist/OfferUp/FB Marketplace) and you’re getting it new from an authorized seller so no issues regarding warranty if it ever comes up.

I’ve purchased through Fasteners Inc several times with success. They’re a small Tool store chain in California.

For those of you who use these batteries on drills/drivers, do you feel one battery is enough? I feel like these last for so long on one charge. I am not doing crazy amounts of usage.

Btw, how do these work for higher energy load tools such as a circular saw? Do they last a while?

Black + Decker enters the Keurig-style cocktail maker game with new light-up Bev machine

We have seen some automated robot bartender, or Keurig cocktail makers in the past, and Black + Decker is getting in the game with its new Bev machine. Coming off the show floor at CES 2022, the new robotic vacuum-style Bev cocktail machine makes use of Barcode-laden cocktail pods and a sort of vacuum system to suck up your alcohol of choice and create automated cocktails in seconds. Head below for a closer look and more details on the new Bev machine.

Black + Decker Bev cocktail machine

Keurig recently shuttered its automated pod-style cocktail business, leaving folks like Bartesian and its higher-end looking machine one of the only players in the game. In fact, Black + Decker is teaming up with Bartesian and makes use of its now not-so proprietary cocktail pods to offer up a more affordable option, and a not-so arguably less attractive solution.

The Bev machine uses a sort of tube and vacuum system to suck up your favorite gin, tequila, vodka, and more (up to five 750ml bottles) straight from the open vessels placed around the base of the machine to then automatically mix them together based on the barcode the pod you’re using calls for. The whole thing happens in about 30 seconds according to Black + Decker and is about as simple as these machines have gotten thus far by the looks of it – you don’t need to empty the liquor into additional jars like the Bartesian.

The Bev also redirects excess liquor back to the bottles and can even wash and clean out the tubes connecting them all on its own. While it is certainly a far more run-of-the-mill looking machine, it does have some fun party LED action to light up the bottles you’re using.

Black + Decker says the new Bev cocktail machine is scheduled to begin shipping this spring at $300, about $50 under its far more attractive partner (competitor) Bartesian.
