QubicGames is doing what any good publisher and developer does on its birthday, and is celebrating by having an eShop sale!

Not only that, but it’s also holding a competition where six winners will win a number of free, upcoming games. This isn’t the first time the studio has done this, but it’s even bigger this year. The winners will receive free digital codes to every single upcoming game released by QubicGames, Untold Tales, and naptime.games from April 2022 to the end of 2023. That’s a whole 21 months of free games!

To enter you’ll need to join QubicGames’ Discord, interact with the team on social media, or pick up one of the many games it has on sale. You can get specific details via the official website, and we recommend you check it out. The contest ends on 24th March.

Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube

Back to the sale, there are a plethora of games available this time around, with some real hidden gems amongst the pack.

All of these games cost $1.99 / £1.50 / 1.80€, which is an absolute steal.

Better yet, in North America, you can get any of the above games for just $1.80 if you already own or buy one of the games below. Luckily, they’re all on sale too at $1.99 each:

Will you be picking anything up or taking a shot at winning some free games? Let us know!

Many dilute nectars consumed by bird pollinators contain secondary metabolites, potentially toxic chemicals produced by plants as defences against herbivores. Consequently, nectar-feeding birds are challenged not only by frequent water excess, but also by the toxin content of their diet. High water turnover, however, could be advantageous to nectar consumers by enabling them to excrete secondary metabolites or their transformation products more easily. We investigated how the alkaloid nicotine, naturally present in nectar of Nicotiana species, influences osmoregulation in white-bellied sunbirds Cinnyris talatala and Cape white-eyes Zosterops virens. We also examined the metabolic fate of nicotine in these two species to shed more light on the post-ingestive mechanisms that allow nectar-feeding birds to tolerate nectar nicotine. A high concentration of nicotine (50 µM) decreased cloacal fluid output and increased its osmolality in both species, due to reduced food intake that led to dehydration. White-eyes excreted a higher proportion of the ingested nicotine-containing diet than sunbirds. However, sugar concentration did not affect nicotine detoxification and elimination. Both species metabolised nicotine, excreting very little unchanged nicotine. Cape white-eyes mainly metabolised nicotine through the cotinine metabolic pathway, with norcotinine being the most abundant metabolite in the excreta, while white-bellied sunbirds excreted mainly nornicotine. Both species also utilized phase II conjugation reactions to detoxify nicotine, with Cape white-eyes depending more on the mercapturic acid pathway to detoxify nicotine than white-bellied sunbirds. We found that sunbirds and white-eyes, despite having a similar nicotine tolerance, responded differently and used different nicotine-derived metabolites to excrete nicotine.

Street artists will be in Red Lion Square in Stamford on Sunday (March 13) as part of a festival.

Art Pop-Up, a Stamford-based organisation, has arranged for some of the region’s top street artists to paint in Red Lion Square from 11am until 4pm, as part of the street art festival KorpFest which is usually held in Peterborough.

There will be nine artists at work with three from Stamford, one from London and the rest hailing from Peterborough.

Korp at work

The event is organised in conjunction with Korp of Korporate Industries, which is the founder of Korpfest and the online Korp Academy where members from all over the world learn to draw with marker pens.

This Sunday’s line up features Nyces, whose work has gone viral several times and was the subject of a Channel 4 documentary last year, as well as local artists Cur5, a freehand illustrator and leader in the region’s indie art scene as the founder of the live art event Battle Lines and Paul Kneen, who is currently enjoying a successful solo exhibition at Peterborough Museum.

Other artists participating are Process Smith who created the NFT sensation that is Derpy Birbs, Frankie Curtis – renowned professional doodle artist from London with a distinctive style bursting with vibrant characters, Trudy of Tru Creative, Amanda Rigby and Arran Macphail.

Paul Kneen

Korp, who will be painting live himself, can currently be found on Wednesday mornings in Strays Coffee House on Stamford High Street, as part of another Art Pop-Up project, drawing in the Community Sketchbook with a group of enthusiastic creative learners as part of a programme to encourage locals to have a go at doodling. Everyone is welcome to drop in between 10am and midday.

Art Pop-Up director, Sam Roddan, said: “We are very lucky to have such amazing national talent living right here on our doorstep and we’re really grateful to Korp for agreeing to tour his extremely popular KorpFest to Stamford this year allowing us to host the town’s very first live street art event.

“Big thanks also to SKDC for providing the funding for the event from the Welcome Back Fund, recognising the value that creativity and art can bring to a community. So don’t forget to bring your sketchbook to Korpfest Stamford this Sunday to grab autographs and doodles from the street artists painting live.”
