03/17/2020: Mickaboo responds to Coronavirus (COVID-19) – .

Mickaboo is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization (tax id #94-3286344) based in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Mickaboo is an all-volunteer virtual organization, meaning we are a network of volunteers with no central physical location. Our basic goal is to rescue parrots and other commonly domesticated companion birds who have been neglected, abused, injured or surrendered to us because their owners can no longer care for them. To accomplish this goal, we do the following:

• Provide medical care and safe, healthy, foster homes for the rescued birds we take in.
• Take in and rehabilitate injured or sick conures from the San Francisco “Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill” flock.
• Find and educate quality adoptive homes for the birds in our foster care
• Inform avian caregivers on the most current standards of care via our free classes, online resources, and consultations.
• Educate the public about the tragedies of overpopulation, and encourage them to adopt, not buy or breed birds.

Mickaboo is always looking for energetic, responsible volunteers to become foster parents and to help us rescue 300 to 400 birds every year, including helping with administration, education, fostering, public relations, technical support, and even simple one-day tasks such as bird and cage transport or staffing our adoption fairs.

We gladly accept donations.  Over 95% of the financial support we receive goes to providing direct care for our birds.

DIRB is a Web Content Scanner. It looks for existing (and/or hidden) Web Objects. It basically works by launching a dictionary based attack against a web server and analyzing the response.

DIRB comes with a set of preconfigured attack wordlists for easy usage but you can use your custom wordlists. Also DIRB sometimes can be used as a classic CGI scanner, but remember is a content scanner not a vulnerability scanner.

DIRB main purpose is to help in professional web application auditing. Specially in security related testing. It covers some holes not covered by classic web vulnerability scanners. DIRB looks for specific web objects that other generic CGI scanners can’t look for. It doesn’t search vulnerabilities nor does it look for web contents that can be vulnerables.

How it works:

It internally has a wordlist file which has by default around 4000 words for brute force attack. There are a lot of updated wordlists available over the internet which can also be used. Dirb searches for the words in its wordlist in every directory or object of a website or a server. It might be an admin panel or a subdirectory that is vulnerable to attack. The key is to find the objects as they are generally hidden.

dirb Usage Example:

Scan the web server (http://192.168.1.224/) for directories using a dictionary file (/usr/share/wordlists/dirb/common.txt):

The bakkesmod also known as miniature bakkes (Bakkes Modicus) is a birb that is a member of it’s own branch of the cockatoo family endemic to Australia. They are prized as household pets and companion parrots throughout the world and are relatively easy to breed. As a caged birb, bakkes are second in popularity only to the budgerigar.

The bakkesmod is the only member of the genus Bakkes. It was previously considered a crested parrot or small bakkes; however, more recent molecular studies have assigned it to its own subfamily, Bakkes. It is, therefore, now classified as the smallest of the Cacatuidae (cockatoo family). Bakkess are native to Australia, and favour the Australian wetlands, scrublands, and bush lands.

Additionally, the bakkes can be identified easily when it is accompanied by its mutualistic companion, the spoon carrying alpaca. The alpaca often has a spoon in its possession whose size is far too large compared to it, but refuses to let it go for sentimental reasons or so we’re told

The nests of bakkes birb are often seen littered with concrete blocks with two holes for aerodynamics. Scientists are unsure of where these come from since bakkes has no opposable thumbs or toes capable of picking up the objects. Some conpiracy theorists think it may be similar to the Death Valley ‘Sailing Stones’ situation, but the more rational thinkers believe aliens simply drop off their construction overage during the night
