Ebay: Used DeWalt Miter Saw DWS779 $239.95, many other dewalt, Makita, Milwaukee

Our community has rated this post as helpful.
If you agree, why not thank ?
Speaking only to the Milwaukee listings, there’s a 0% chance I’d buy used products from someone on eBay to save maybe $10 (or even pay more for some of the listings) compared to what I can get brand new from Home Depot on a sale or deal.

There’s free returns for 30 days, and the seller is well reviewed (taking that with a grain of salt), so I’m hoping i don’t get too burned on the dewalts. Was too tempted to not go for it.

I have purchased 2 Dewalt stands and a Toughsystem rack from this company before. All advertised as used. All showed up in original beat up boxes but NONE were actually used or even took from package. So take it for what it’s worth, but I’m ordering a couple tools without hesitation.

Gamer Birb

Sydney flew up to the shelf where my switch lives and started singing like mad 🥺. Don’t mind him, he’s just a gamer birb.

a week in my life: new plants, car rides, and lunar new year

a lil week in my life vlog! last week, i got some new plants, celebrated lunar new year, screamed paramore in the car (as one does), and did some reading during sunset (rory gilmore watch out i’m coming for you), and more! sometimes i forget that i’m not enrolled in school rn while all my friends are. it’s odd seeing how my life is due to that. it seems very slow-paced and monotonous, but also my life has almost always kind of been that way considering i still live in my hometown. anyways, i woke up a lil late. still very tired, but i gotta get started with my day. gonna go try my best to be productive. byeee!

lots of love,
dustin

Crossing the (Border) Line

For the first time in two months, the Hawks are headed to Canada for a handful of games. And after Friday’s postponement in Kamloops, tonight’s tilt against Kelowna remains full steam ahead.

Portland is hoping for better fortunes on this foray into the Great White North after picking up just two of six possible points during their last trip, and if the team’s 11-4-3-0 run since returning stateside is any indication, the Hawks are a different team this time around. Stellar goaltending, explosive offense and some clutch showings by depth talent –  particularly in recent games – have carried the Winterhawks over the last two months, and they’ll surely look to keep the good momentum alive as they return to full strength.

Kel-owned-a

Canada may not have been kind to Portland earlier in the year, but games against Kelowna have yielded nothing but wins for the Winterhawks. With three wins in three games, the Hawks have had the Rockets’ number in 2021-22.

Make no mistake, these games were no blowouts – a pair of shootout wins and a 4-2 victory at the VMC could all have gone either way, but their previous success against this opponent should give the Hawks plenty of confidence tonight. Conversely, Kelowna will surely look to ensure they erase that goose-egg in the final regular-season meeting between the clubs.

A look at the WHL Western Conference standings adds to the drama, as both teams sit on 36 points, with Kelowna still hosting a pair of games in hand. With bragging rights, playoff position and a potential regular-season sweep on the line, there’s no shortage of storylines heading into tonight’s tilt.

Fresh Faces

Four new(ish) names could find their way into the Hawks lineup this weekend in Taylor Gauthier, Rhett Ravndahl and Nick Johnson, as well as the returning Josh Zakreski following his two-game call-up stint earlier in the year.

Gauthier, a 20-year-old netminder acquired from Prince George via trade on Dec. 27, participated in the Winterhawks’ practices this week and traveled with the team from the Rose City. After Dante Giannuzzi starred during nine straight starts, Gauthier could be in line to provide some relief and make his Winterhawks debut against some familiar B.C. Division foes.

Ravndahl, Johnson and Zakreski, all 16, joined the team on the other side of the border as affiliate players. Zakreski played a pair of games with Portland in November before returning to the Saskatoon Blazers, while Ravndahl and Johnson would be making their WHL debuts should they suit up. All three were selected by Portland in the 2020 WHL Draft – Johnson and Ravndahl could become the second and third members of that draft class (after Zakreski) to suit up in the regular season for Portland.

Landslides kill at least 24 as rains deluge Ecuador capital

QUITO, Ecuador — A rain-weakened hillside collapsed in Ecuador’s capital, sweeping over homes and a sports field and killing at least 24 people, city officials said Tuesday.

The Quito Security Department said at least 48 more people were injured, while eight houses collapsed and others were damaged when the hillside gave way late Monday. The authorities also reported 12 missing people.

Neighbors joined rescue workers in hunting through the ruins for survivors of the disaster that hit following nearly 24 hours of rainfall.

The storm was pounding outside when Imelda Pacheco said she felt her house move as if an earthquake had struck. Suddenly water and rocks began to pour in through doors and windows and she fled before the building was destroyed.

“I barely had time to grab the hand of my 4-year-old son and I ran to the stairs, to the terrace. Suddenly the walls in front and to the side disappeared,” she told The Associated Press.

“We shouted to the neighbors on the first floor, but the water carried away the mother and daughter,” she said, standing before the ruins of her home.

“I thought I was going to die with my son. I hugged him strongly and we shook, I think from the cold and the fear.. We barely survived,” she added, breaking into tears.

Waves of mud, some 3 meters (10-feet) high, carried vehicles, motorcycles, trash bins and other debris under a heavy rain in the neighborhoods of La Gasca and La Comuna below the slopes of the Ruco Pinchincha mountain.

As the rescue began, police called for silence so cries of those trapped could be heard.

Quito Mayor Santiago Guarderas said the intense rains saturated the soils, setting off the landslide.

Smaller waves of muddy water continued pouring down the ravine Tuesday past weary neighbors trying to move stones, tree trunks and debris. An overturned taxi and other vehicles were partly buried in mud on a sports field.

“I’ve lost everything. I don’t have anything. Everything is over,” said 65-year-old Laura Quiñónez, who stood beside an ambulance as her neighbors tried to recover appliances from their destroyed homes.

San Bernardino mayor’s alleged misuse of public funds will be investigated by authorities – San Bernardino Sun

San Bernardino leaders have unanimously agreed to refer the alleged misuse of public funds by Mayor John Valdivia to the appropriate administrative and law enforcement authorities.

The City Council on Tuesday, June 15, also directed City Manager Rob Field to try and cancel a VIP reception scheduled to follow Valdivia’s virtual State of the City address later in the evening.

Furthermore, elected officials directed City Attorney Sonia Carvalho to take legal action to recover the alleged illegal expenditures if Valdivia does not respond to the city’s demand for reimbursement within 30 days.

Lastly, the seven-member council directed Carvalho to work with Field to engage an independent investigator to audit all expenditures and reimbursements out of the Mayor’s Office since January 2019.

The announcement was made following a special closed session meeting of the City Council Tuesday after nearly two dozen San Bernardino residents accused Valdivia of misusing public funds to plan the post-State of the City VIP reception.

Valdivia said Monday, June 14, the event Tuesday is “for residents and stakeholders” and “is to thank and encourage local residents, community leaders and businesses for their involvement in helping to build a brighter future for our city.

“Regional stakeholders vital to San Bernardino’s future success have also been invited.”

Valdivia asserted there is no “personal gain” in the event.

Before the City Council heard from a dozen public commenters Tuesday, Valdivia said he had requested that Field and Assistant City Manager Rebekah Kramer not be involved in the special closed session meeting.

He did not explain why.

The City Council entered closed session at around 12:30 p.m., and emerged approximately 20 minutes later.

According to Carvalho, Valdivia was asked to leave the meeting after it was revealed his personal Attorney Rod Pacheco sent city officials a letter accusing her and Field of organizing the conference.

“It is absolutely false,” Carvalho said, adding that the noon gathering was called “as a result of council members contacting the City Clerk’s Office requesting advice and a conversation” on the potential misuse of public funds, as stated on the agenda.

Because Valdivia filed a letter threatening litigation against the city, Carvalho said, he was asked to leave closed session.

“He has refused to do so.”

At that point in closed session, Carvalho said, elected officials voted to return to the public and report what happened.

After Carvalho explained what occurred behind closed doors, Valdivia responded to the allegations that he misused public funds to plan his VIP reception.

“This is not a campaign event, there is no illegal use of funds,” he said. “It’s not for personal gain as is alleged. … We remain confident the future of our city is growth- and development-oriented. This event reflects that.”

The City Council subsequently returned to closed session without Valdivia.
