Abstract
A search for the pair production of heavy leptons (N-0, L-+/-) predicted by the type-III seesaw theory formulated to explain the origin of small neutrino masses is presented. The decay channels N-0 -> W(+/-)l(+/-) (l = e, mu, tau) and L-+/- -> W(+/-)v (v = v(e), v(mu), v(tau)) are considered. The analysis is performed using the final state that contains two leptons (electrons or muons), two jets from a hadronically decaying W boson and large missing transverse momentum. The data used in the measurement correspond to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb(-1) of pp collisions at root s = 8 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. No evidence of heavy lepton pair production is observed. Heavy leptons with masses below 325-540 GeV…

SD Farms and Park Place Dominant in U.S. Open Polo Championship® Wins

Doubleheader excitement resumed in the U.S. Open Polo Championship® at International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC) with CK Shack and SD Farms assembling on Isla Carroll West. Showcasing a fresh roster, SD Farms established an early lead and never looked back, as nine goals from Felipe “Pipe” Vercellino drove his team to an impressive 17-9 victory. Making their GAUNTLET debut, Casablanca faced a tough task facing the reigning C.V. Whitney Cup® champions Park Place. Rebounding from their finals loss to Pilot in the USPA Gold Cup®, Park Place re-established themselves as top competitors in the U.S. Open, with 10-goaler Hilario Ulloa leading his team scoring eight goals to crush Casablanca 18-5.

SD Farms wasted no time adjusting to their roster reconstruction, as goals from Felipe Viana, Pedro Zacharias, and Vercellino gave SD Farms an early 4-0 advantage. Exchanging a pair of goals in the second chukker, Vercellino tapped in his second conversion from the line, while CK Shack’s Santiago Toccalino finally found space in the field on back-to-back goals to get CK Shack on the scoreboard. Sending Vercellino to the line twice in the opening chukkers, CK Shack’s foul troubles continued, as Vercellino put another two penalty goals through the posts in the third. Increasing SD Farms’ lead to six, with five goals coming from the mallet of Vercellino, CK Shack’s Toccalino scored his third from the field to give his team much needed energy as they trailed 6-2 at halftime.

Rallying around Toccalino’s late third chukker goal, CK Shack began their attempted comeback with a run of three goals, including a breakaway from Kris Kampsen. Unrelenting in their response, SD Farms ignited a three-goal scoring spree of their own, with two more from Vercellino to maintain a five-goal lead. Trading penalty conversions between Toccalino and Vercellino to open the fifth chukker, SD Farms’ unified and dominant play saw Viana score his second of the match, while Harrison Azzaro hit the posts for his first, as all of SD Farm’s refreshed roster finally reached the scoreboard. Scoring another three consecutive goals to open the final chukker, Vercellino converted his fourth conversion from the 60-yard line, ending his day with a team leading nine goals. Despite a late push from Porter and Toccalino, CK Shack’s twelve fouls proved detrimental, costing CK Shack six penalty goals from the hands of sharp shooting Vercellino, as SD Farms took their first victory of the tournament with ease 17-9.

Relocating to Park Place for the second match of the doubleheader, the 23-goal Park Place team awarded one goal on handicap to newcomer Casablanca. Adding onto their early lead, Sugar Erskine stole the ball off the mallet of Ulloa to give Casablanca a 2-0 advantage, however, it would be the last time Park Place would trail in the match. Beginning their onslaught in response to Erskine’s strong goal from the field, the powerful duo of Ulloa and Juan Britos came alive to combine for three goals. Trading Penalty 5’s from Casablanca’s Erskine and Park Place’s Ellis, Ulloa and Britos linked up for additional four goals. Despite a late chukker contribution from Agustin “Tincho” Merlos for Casablanca, Park Place ended their first half doubling up their struggling opponents 8-4.

Re-entering play following the break, Park Place allowed their defensive victories in open play to drive their offensive success with four more consecutive goals, including three assists from Ellis. Drawing a Penalty 1 to start the beginning of the fifth chukker, Ulloa backed with the unstoppable force of his teammates in Britos and Ellis kept Casablanca pinned in their end of the field. Adding four more goals in open play, Park Place increased their lead to thirteen. Facing the insurmountable task of pulling themselves back into contention, Casablanca’s difficult debut ended on a high note with Valentino Echezarreta finding the posts for his first goal of the match to contribute Casablanca’s only score since the third chukker. Routing the competition 18-5 on home soil, Ulloa currently leads the GAUNTLET with an outstanding eighty-two goals and will continue his bid to achieve one hundred goals on the season.

Qualifying matches in the U.S. Open Polo Championship® continues Saturday, April 2 at IPC in a doubleheader featuring Audi vs La Indiana at 11:00am ET, followed by Cessna facing newly crowned USPA Gold Cup® champions Pilot at 1:00pm ET.

Professional Bull Riders World Finals Events Begin in Fort Worth – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

The PBR World Finals kick-off in Fort Worth at Dickies Arena Friday night.

Dickies Arena will host the event for its 30th anniversary beginning May 12 which runs through May 21.

Known as the richest bull riding event in the world features a purse of more than $2.7 million.

Fort Worth, the site of PBR’s first-ever event in April 1993, won by Texan and PBR co-founder Cody Lambert, now comes full circle to host the historic 30th PBR World Finals.

As the 2023 PBR World Finals Week brings nearly two weeks of non-stop Western lifestyle programming to the region, the event will take over Dickies Arena May 12-14 with Rounds 1-3, followed by Rounds 4-7 and the Championship Round on May 18-21.

Throughout the seven days, 40 of the world’s best bull riders will duke it out through eight rounds of competition

In a highly competitive season in which six riders have risen to the No. 1 rank, Kaique Pacheco, who concluded the 23-event regular season ranked first, leads No. 2 Jose Vitor Leme by 74 points.

Pacheco, however, will not compete due to injury, opening the door for the remainder of the field to contend for the gold buckle. The world’s Top 10 are within less than 500 points of one another, and 10 riders this year qualified for their first World Finals – two in the Top 10.

The Top 10 also features a strong Texas presence with five riders ranked inside the threshold hailing from the Lone Star State: No. 3 Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe), No. 4 Cooper Davis (Jasper), No. 6 Andrew Alvidrez (Seminole), No. 7 Boudreaux Campbell (Crockett) and No. 10 Daniel Keeping (Montague).

Should any of these contenders be crowned the 2023 PBR World Champion they would become the first Texan since Davis in 2016 to earn the coveted gold buckle.

Alongside the riders, who will be vying for the 2023 PBR World Championship, the PBR’s fiercest bulls will also be competing for the 2023 YETI PBR World Champion Bull honor and accompanying $100,000 bonus.

The field is led by powerhouse No. 1 Cool Whip, who is chasing his first YETI PBR World Championship after being crowned the 2022 ABBI Classic World Champion. Cool Whip leads No. 2 Ridin Solo by 0.41 points as the Oklahoma-raised bovine attempts to make a come-from-behind surge and become just the sixth back-to-back PBR World Champion bull in the organization’s history.

The teams then exchanged second period goals through Guatemala’s Juan Flores and Mexico’s Jose Vizcarra, making it 3-2 going into the final period where Cristofher Castillo, Gabriel Macias and Diego Martinez all scored for Mexico, while Jose Lem tallied for the Chapines, resulting in the El Tricolor victory.

It was then 5-0 after the second period thanks to scores from Ricardo Carvalho, Gabriel Silveira and Christopher Albiston. Trinidad and Tobago battled back with third period goals from Akinola Gregory and Kareem Perry, but a late Perea goal cemented the three points for the U.S.

Panama now have two wins through two matches after posting an 8-1 win against Dominican Republic. Jaime Londono gave Panama a 1-0 lead after one period before a second Londono goal, a pair of Julio Watson goals and an Alberto Kelly score made it 5-0 at the end of the second period. Kelly then scored his second of the night on top of a Rafael Garcia brace, while Yan Lluberes tallied for the Dominican Republic, to complete the 8-1 scoreline.

Medical codes add up to dream job for TSTC grad

Maria Morales recently graduated with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Information Technology from TSTC’s Harlingen campus and was hired for a full-time job at South Heart Clinic. (Courtesy: Texas State Technical College/TSTC)

HARLINGEN — Maria Morales remembers the happiness that she felt when she was awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Information Technology during Texas State Technical College’s recent Spring Commencement.

That happiness increased exponentially two days later when Morales accepted a full-time job offer as a medical records clerk at South Heart Clinic in Harlingen.

“I’ve been working part time at South Heart Clinic since March,” she said. “My boss surprised me with the full-time job offer. I was nervous, shocked and excited. I first started doing my practicum at the medical company in January. It was hard trying to balance the part-time job and my studies because I’m a mother. But I did it, and I have a great job I will enjoy.”

Elisa Pacheco, reception supervisor for South Heart Clinic, said Morales handled her workload quickly and efficiently.

“My medical records employee who trained her was impressed with her work ethic,” Pacheco said. “Maria is a motivated person who is eager to learn and prove her worth. She has shown that she is ready for the job, and we are eager to see her growth in the company.”

Morales said the work culture feels like home.

“I love how the team treats me,” she said. “This is the best job I’ve ever had.”

Morales said her interest in health care started with a desire to help others.

“It makes me feel good to help others — especially the elderly,” she said. “I used to be a health care provider. I enrolled in TSTC’s Phlebotomy Technician workforce training program and graduated with a certificate of completion. Then I became interested in working in billing and coding. The closest program I found was TSTC’s Health Information Technology.”

Morales said she is grateful that her instructor helped prepare her for interviews.

“My former instructor (Katrina) Stotts prepared us for a couple of mock interviews,” she said. “She gave me great advice to build my confidence.”

Stotts said Morales was a promising student.

“Maria showed a strong work ethic by prioritizing her work, managing her time effectively and asking questions when she needed help,” she said. “Several students reached out to her for assistance during their practicums because of her knowledge. In fact, (South Heart Clinic) was so impressed by her fast learning ability that she was hired before she completed the course.”

TSTC’s Health Information Technology program is offered 100% online. It includes an Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Information Technology, a certificate of completion in Medical Coding and Billing Specialist, and a certificate of completion and an occupational skills achievement award in Medical Office Specialist.

According to onetonline.org, health information technologists and medical registrars can earn a yearly median salary of more than $66,350 in Texas, where projected job growth for the profession was forecast to increase 22% from 2020 to 2030.

Registration for TSTC’s fall semester is underway. For more information, visit tstc.edu.

Adnoc Launches IPO for 15-Percent Stake in Logistics Unit | Rigzone

Abu Dhabi’s main energy company will sell a 15% stake in its logistics and shipping unit in an initial public offering, kicking off the second listing of one of its businesses this year.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. will offer about 1.11 billion shares in Adnoc Logistics & Services, it said in a statement on Wednesday. The company will announce the price range and start taking investor orders on May 16, with final pricing slated for May 25. Shares are expected to begin trading June 1.

The sale comes months after state-owned Adnoc raised $2.5 billion in the listing of its gas business, which is the world’s second-biggest IPO of the year so far. The company has also sold stakes in some other portfolio businesses over the past two years — including in its drilling unit, chemicals firm Borouge and fertilizer company Fertiglobe.

Those share sales came amid a rush of listings in the Persian Gulf, which has remained a relatively busy market amid a global slump. Still, oil prices have come off their highs reached last year in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Fears of a recession and bank failures in the US have recently put pressure on the commodity, which strongly influences Gulf stock markets.

About $3.5 billion has been raised so far in 2023 through listings in the Middle East — the bulk of it in Abu Dhabi, data compiled by Bloomberg show. That’s down sharply from the $11.4 billion fetched by this time last year, as markets like Saudi Arabia have remained quiet and there haven’t been any privatizations in Dubai, which helped boost volumes in 2022.

“It’s a time for creating value and enabling growth,” Musabbeh al Kaabi, executive director at Adnoc, said on Bloomberg Television Wednesday. “The IPO is definitely for local and international investors. We’re very confident about this market here and the region.”

Adnoc Logistics plans to pay an annualized 2023 cash dividend of $260 million and expects to increase this by at least 5% annually. The firm, which has been expanding its fleet to cope with increased demand from the state-owned firm’s businesses, is targeting capital expenditure $4 billion to $5 billion in the medium term.

As part of Adnoc’s efforts to bolster its offshore oil, natural gas and wind businesses, the firm acquired privately-owned ZMI Holdings in July and folded it under its logistics unit. Including ZMI, Adnoc Logistics’ proforma 2022 revenue was $2.29 billion, on adjusted earnings of just under $600 million.

Adnoc Group companies accounted for nearly three-quarters of total sales for the year ended December 31, 2022, the firm said. It recently signed a five-year contract with Adnoc Offshore to provide integrated logistics services including port services and warehouse operations.

Citigroup Inc, First Abu Dhabi Bank PJSC, HSBC Holdings Plc and JPMorgan Chase & Co. have been appointed as joint global coordinators and joint bookrunners. Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank PJSC, Arqaam Capital Limited, Credit Agricole SA, EFG-Hermes, International Securities and Societe Generale SA are joint bookrunners for the offering.

Moelis & Co. is the independent financial adviser.
