There once were two guys, oh so cunning
To laughter, they were both running
The “Tonight Show” host inquired
What had them so inspired
Their humor was truly stunning
In Los Angeles, fires burned so hot,
Ten people have died, oh what a thought!
Structures destroyed, thousands in harm,
Wildfires raging, causing alarm,
Brave firefighters, battling this lot!
There once was a man with a plan,
To light up his world like a fan.
With a “flamethrower” bright,
He caused quite a fright,
Behind a car, his mischief began.
There once was a first lady, so grand,
Who did not attend the event as planned.
Not with five presidents, she was not there,
The only spouse missing, it was quite rare.
In her absence, the gathering did stand.
There once was a woman named Jessica,
Who came to the fire chief’s defense with zest-a.
Amidst right-wing outrage,
She turned the page,
And stood up for him with the best-a.
By the numbers, how big are these fires?
They spread quickly and climb even higher.
Homes are lost in the blaze,
Leaving many in a daze,
As firefighters battle the pyres.
There once was a comedian who found it
The “Late Night” joke just didn’t fit
He wasn’t buying the spiel
His humor was real
So he changed his act bit by bit.
There once were two presidents, past,
Whose moment on screen was a blast,
Viewed by tens of millions,
In just a few instants,
A clip that will surely long last.
There once was a scholar named Hemmer
Who delved into a troubling dilemma
A cocktail so potent
With the president-elect
Made folks feel worse, oh what a stammer
A feeling raw for me, quite aware,
But for thousands, it’s more than to bear,
In the coming weeks and days,
They’ll return, in a daze,
Tur’s words ring true in the air.
